This is said to be the site from which Moses overlooked the Dead Sea and affords a magnificent view of Palestine. The Franciscan monks bought this site in the 1930s and have excavated the ruins of a sixth century church, which many believe was built over the burial place of Moses. Sixth century mosaics are on view here.

Mount Nebo is 25 miles (40km) from Amman.
